![]() To that end, the tool we chose would have to meet the unique needs of customers. ![]() We went through the process of identifying our key customers that were a big part of our trade budget.Ģ.Customer Relationships: For us, the tool was extremely important as it would be one of our KPI's that would be used to measure the effectiveness of event planning at a retailer. For a full understanding of what each of these nine parameters mean, please visit Alexander Osterwalder's website. In the section below, I am going to talk about how we leveraged the canvas to implement the strategies we put in place. The Business Model Canvas was used to identify future growth opportunities, the costs and risks of each and the software tools that best aligned with the chosen strategy. Trade Management is a customer facing set of business processes that include (1) The retailer discussing yearly initiatives with the CPG manufacturer (2) The CPG manufacturer reserving funds for such events (3) The CPG organization allocating these funds for special events, like price markdowns and BOGO’s (4) The CPG manufacturer reviewing the performance of these events and it's effect on their top and bottom line. The Business Model Canvas gives people a common understanding for evaluating traditional processes and bring innovation into their business models. The Business Model Canvas developed by Alexander Osterwalder () is a visual representation of current or new business models, generally used by strategic managers. Just as successful new ventures do not go to market with their first idea, successful IT organizations are more sustainable if they have considered several business models before deciding on a particular one. In their loyalty to this, they fail to give in depth consideration to all the reasons why they should/should not use their prescribed approach. Many IT projects fail because the leadership teams put all their faith in the one methodology or solution they know and understand. Of the many tools I have used in the last few years, the Business Process Canvas stands out in its purpose, ease of understanding and not to mention, a great wall paper J.
